If 2021 were a person I'd get up in its face and say, with a nasty edge, "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out."
I'm an optimistic person, but sheesh! What a year. Not only one surgery, but two, the second a major one. Ahead of it I battled THE virus.
I got into my head way too much. Multiple doc visits. Ultrasounds. Bloodwork. A biopsy that just about dropped me due to the pain. Because my docs were on a treasure hunt, or that's how I needed to frame it, creativity vanished and, truly, any ability to think took a hiatus. Yeah, not good.
I returned to my yogic practices (I'm certified), which helped tremendously. I also dove into readying Christmas, our season, for my family with the focus on our four kids. Everything--buying and wrapping gifts, a deep cleaning of the house, decorating the trees was embraced with fervor, completed three weeks ahead of Christmas as I knew I was going to be under physical restrictions into the third week of January. The activity helped my brain during the day. But at night? I lay wide awake, mulling over my fears. So unlike me.
The pathology report came in eleven days after surgery. The weight was off my shoulders and that loooooooong sigh went on and on, cleansing me further. I'm healthy!
I was given the green light to drive. Oh, I did. I drove all day long, much of it on the country roads which always soothe me.
I began to sleep again. I sold a buttload of books in December. My optimism, energy, and productivity have returned.
2021 ended on a high note. I feel great.
The virus is moving through my kiddos regardless of vax status, like a revolving door, as I type this. And one had the flu last week. They're all doing fine.
I'm hoping for a new year full of personal and professional growth. I have so much in the hopper. I can't wait to share it with YOU!
